Kegging System Question

I'm looking at this kegging system:

http://www.kegglebrewing.com/Two-Tap-Home-Brew-System_p_8.html with an upgrade to the Taprite regulator.

Anyone had dealings with this vendor before? The owner is pretty active on HBT and the AHA forum, but I would like the asshat point of view. Also, if someone has an elusive promo code, that would be cool too.

My bottling days are soon behind me!

That's a pretty good price.

I don't know anything about the vendor, but I will be "that guy" who encourages you to begin kegging. I started last month and every penny I've spent on it so far is totally worth it.

His systems are great, don't have one yet but he is just outside of Pgh and is part of TRUB homebrew club, very nice guy. I just did a big brew with him and the club, which I am going to join. I would order one of his systems, only if I had some extra money lying around.

Great vendor. Purchased a 15 gallon corny from him. No complaints.

One thing to think about: if you take that nice shiny new aluminum CO2 bottle to many of the larger gas vendors they will take it, put in in their pile of empties and give you an old grungy rusty steel or beatup aluminum bottle filled with CO2. This is because the large suppliers with multiple outlets around a metropolitan area (Robert's Oxygen for example) only fill at one location and truck empties from the stores to that location and truck full bottles back. If you are dealing with someone who refills on the spot then you will take your bottle in empty and return home with it full (or partly full - many of those that refill are doing it from a syphon bottle and you often wind up with only 3 lbs in a 5 lb bottle because they don't know how to or wish to or are willing to take the time to give you the full 5 pounds) and, as they are generally bar supply stores, will probably charge more than one of the larger establishments that swaps. So you will probably want to deal with a large supplier from the POV that you will get 5 lbs each time and the price will probably be lower. In this case get a grungy old used bottle (but one that is in hydro). Actually, that's another advantage of using "their" bottle. You never have to pay for a hydro check (not that it's that big a deal).

I agree with AJ, contact the guy and see if he'll knock off the $69 bucks he charges for a new aluminum tank and get a full one from your gas supplier. Then's it's easy to upgrade to a 10, 15 or 20 lb tank.
