thanks for making this thread. i just saw today that the place i work for sells these in 5 gallon size and i can get them for less than 8 bucks a piece. seems like basically an $8 better bottle. if only it was 6.5 for a bit more headspace...

I would be a bit more concerned about oxidation in those. Im pretty sure they are not made of the same PET material and probably are more permiable.

"high density polyethylene" is all they're labelled as, which i know is not the same material as PET (better bottles).

a-ha! i finally found something indicating the oxygen permeability of HDPE in real numbers
