I plan to enter my version of sparkling ale in Nationals and hope for the best. I cultured some yeast from 3 Coopers bottles and I think it really makes the difference in unique taste.

Did you enter yours? How did it do? I've recently brewed a sparkling ale and love it. I am considering entering it as well, but not expecting much as most people have never experience the style.

Hi Michael: I entered this in Cat 23 and even though I live closer to Ohio, it went to South Phila. for judging. I got a combined 34 with good comments. Both judges thought it was too sweet for the category. As this was the first time for the recipe, I will tweak it some more. I also thought it could have been a little drier. The color, carbonation, and clarity got good marks. Usually I hop heavy and dry hop my recipes in this category, but an Aussie ale to me should be almost hop neutral. Hard to figure or just a quirk of putting this beer in Cat 23? Thanks for the interest, Gary
