I remember those too... The ole' "Church Key" (needed to get to that Holy Water...)

Alright I'm calling BULLSHIT. No way either one of you is that old.

Well, in Oz's defence, Aussie tech runs a bit behind the US. I remember when, in 1979, we got our first colour television show in Ingleside (near Sydney). Mind you, we had a colour television - but the local broadcasters only did black and white until then. I also remember the beer cans with no pop-tops, though it was my Dad's mates that had them (my Dad being mostly a wine and cocktail business guy). I thought it was a treat to open them at parties though.

Pop-tops (or pull-offs if you were somewhat dexterous) solved a major problem with the older cans: it was pretty much impossible not to get your hand soaked if you tried to open a shaken (or dropped) can with a church key. If you were especially unfortunate, or stupid enough to put your head in the way, you'd get a face-full of spray too.

If that guy would have called in he might have beat out Bub in the Lympics.

I don't think I have ever seen a can with a pull tab (maybe in the history books), damn you guys are old.

The pull tab is one thing. Have you ever seen the double push tops? They would use a small hole for an air vent and the large one to drink from. And how about the Olympia pull tabs? I used to collect them from my grandfather to make things with.

Ahh yes, I remeber the double push top cans.

We had cans of coke, etc like that for quite a few years. I used to hate them when I was a kid. You'd push the little button then when you pushed the big one your finger always got stuck up to the first knuckle in the bloody hole.

It was then a test of pain tolerance trying to get your finger back out of the bloody can without cutting your finger to shreds or even right off. :?

Oh yea not to mention with the old pull tab kind you could shake up a soda and literally aim it at someone 30 feet away and hit them with a steady stream...these nw cans just backfire on you.

I'm not that old (31), but I faintly remember having juice from such a can. Which must have been in the 1980s. But then again I grew up in East Germany.

How stupid dou you have to be to put the tab in the can before you drink it ;)
