Beer Writer William Brand Injured??

Mon Feb 09, 2009 11:16 am

I just found out this morning that Bay Area beer writer William Brand was struck by a Muni train in SF last night after leaving an SF Beer Week event. Here is the info posted on his blog http://www.ibabuzz.com/bottomsup/:

A former longtime reporter for the Oakland Tribune was critically injured when he was hit by a Muni train Sunday night in San Francisco’s Financial District, authorities said.

Bill Brand was in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital after he was hit about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, family members said.

He was was walking near Second and King streets when an N-Judah train struck him, according to the San Francisco Municipal Railway.

I don't have any further information but will keep you posted of anything I find out. William is legendary in this area and has influenced me in so many ways as we have developed The BN. All our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Get well Bill!!!!!

There's been a dozen or so tweets about it in the past 45 minutes or so.

Terrible news to hear, but I'm thinking good thoughts for him.

Some of the Bay Area beer establishments are working on organizing a 7:00PM toast for Bill

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Bill. I'll raise my glass now, and at 7pm for you.
