OK I thought I'd step it up this brew and try to mess with the PH of my mash. I picked up some acid from the home brew shop. They told me to test it and add about 1/4 tsp at a time and re test. till I get to the corect PH. I did this for a total of 2 tsp and then stoped. It There was no apparant change from about 5.9 / 6.0. About how much should I use "normaly" I know it is baced on the inishal PH and heardness of my water.... But would say 15 + ml be alot?

Thanks
Tim

Depends on the acid. 30% phosphoric it's proabably OK. If it was 88% Lactic, then yes, that's a LOT!

After listening to the pH show I did like Dr. Evil and made up a spreadsheet based on the A.J. deLange paper. It's rough in that I have not tested it (waiting for my meter to arrive) but based on the Paper it works for those values. You would need to know your starting pH, Alkalinity as CaCO3, volume of water or mash, and the concentration of the Acid used, but it's pretty self-explanatory.

Also, the paper was for the acidification of WATER so I am not positive it will hold true for a Mash.

If anyone wants a copy just PM me with you e-mail address. I don't have anywhere to post it for download. All I ask is that you let me know if it works or not, and if you fix anything in it, send it back!

Rob

you will not notice a significant change until you get real close to the end... It takes a lot some times to get it right. but that last one will drop it like it's hot. Oh God I didn't just make a rap reference... I feel so dirty.
