Whenever I first got in to brewing (~year and a half ago) I went to itunes and downloaded every beer related podcast I could find. I found TBN along with Beer School as well as several others, BrewCrazy was one of them. My initial impression was man, what a trainwreck, these people don't know how to carry on a conversation without talking all over each other! I have listened to several shows all the way through and other times just couldn't take it and shut it off. Essentially I'd say this is more of a redneck drinking session that somebody threw a mic in the mix than a beer show and I have a feeling that if myself and some of my friends were to tape a session of us being drunk and stupid it would sound very similar. They do try and I have to give them credit for that, but it really is only a half effort, or so it seems.
Johnny and Corey (which seem to be the main respesentaion) do lurk and post on occasion here or at least they did on the old format. I recall Johnny posting here asking for technical assistance with his setup earlier this year and a few guys pitched in their knowledge and helped him fix his problem. He gave props to everybody on one of their following podcasts too, but even still they have to get their jabs in on JP, Doc, or Justin and I have an idea why. Everybody that has the desire to listen to beer shows, either live or podcast, and is aware of TBN listens to The Session including those such as BrewCrazy. It really doesn't take long listening in before you feel as if you are part of a huge family of beer geeks. The problem with these other shows is that they think they can be part of TBN and at the same time have their own sect without problems arising. This only works with one other show and most of the other guys have accepted that, but obviously not all.
Justin really set the boundries with the douchebag award (or whatever it was) that he gave out to 'all other programs' and I knew immediately it would get some excitement going, especially in those that take this stuff seriously but hey, if you are the Godfather it is your right and duty. If you want to be recognized then you have to really have to step up and there just isn't anybody else out there with the dedication and know how to do so. They really need to accept their place in the beer chain and quit thinking that the Godfather and a 'king' can share a seat.
Cliffnotes: BrewCrazy is more like the bastard stepchild instead of the little brother they think they are, so throwing brewcasters under the bus only makes fans of TBN think they are unclassy/uncool not funny like they would hope.
