I have a 50ml syringe with some small bore tubing attached. I picked up the syringe from an agriculture supply store for under a pound (<$1.5 ).

I just use the outer tube of the autosiphon. Sanitize that up and you can pull enough for a refractometer or with two pulls get enough for a hydrometer.

winethief. It allows me to get a sample that's a composite of all levels of the keg, fermentor, barrel, or carboy. Great for deciding if it's time to take the oak cubes out. It always amazes me that most people leave them in for a prescribed time instead of until it tastes the way you want. I guess they don't have a winethief. :?
