Furthermore Beer Recipes?

So I'm in Wisconsin visiting my in-laws and I picked up a 6-pack of the Knot Stock to try... It's nothing like my version! Nothing at all.

Unlike my version which was almost too peppery, I really didn't get any pepper taste or aroma at all from the real one. And the Furthermore version was pretty malty compared to mine.

My in-laws happened to be visiting us earlier in the summer when I had my version in the kegerator, so it was fun to compare.

Tried mine from the bottle on the weekend - pepper there, but not so flash - very heavy, vegetal flavour. Improved a little as it warmed, undercarbonated. Not great.

Rebrewed on the weekend also, currently bubbling away, planning to add same amount of pepper into secondary this weekend. I'll keep checking it and see how it turns out.

Mine rocks! The pepper is very subtle and accentuates the malt. I honestly believe it is the best beer I have ever made.

Righto, have had another go at this recently - probably been in the bottle about a month or so.

Pepper is much more evident, much fresher, crisper fresh cracked flavour, but now covers up the hoppiness.

Added 1g/litre pepper to the secondary for 3 days from memory. It's good, but a bit of dry hop at the same time would balance things out I think.

Onto attempt no. 3 soon.....

Unfortunately, Sheen, I sent all of it off to NHRHBC and the Dixie Cup. I got the New Hampshire scores back and got 35 out of 50. My best scores ever. Both judges said it was to hoppy. Well whaddaya expect? It's a Jamil recipe!

I entered it as an amber in New Hampshire. I entered it in two categories in the Dixie cup: Amber Ale and Spice beer. I'm betting my scores are crappy in the spice ale since the pepper is very subtle. Hopefully I will get those scores back soon.

I am brewing it again for Nationals. I'll make sure to spare you a couple of bottles.

I finally got my bluebonnet scores, and the revised recipe got 39 in the first round. The second round must have gotten a bad bottle. 25.
