I added the pepper for 60 mins in my boil and it is evident - but a vegetal, almost 'stewed' sort of flavour. More like a pepper sauce than fresh cracked pepper character. Not unpleasant, but not the sharp pepper presence I had hoped for at this point. We'll how it finishes up in the bottle.
Will try it again, and put the pepper into secondary next time I think.

I have used pepper before an always put it in at the end of the boil, kind of like aroma hops, and never had a problem. I'll sample mine in a week and let you know.
