Brewing With Jasmine

Sun May 09, 2010 10:14 pm

A while back I had the Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA and thought it was decent. I have a few Jasmine plants in my yard that are about to bloom so I'm thinking of picking them and drying them for brewing purposes. Has anyone else brewed with jasmine before? If so please share your experience and knowledge on this subject. I have found a home brew recipe for that beer but want a stronger jasmine/floral character to it.

Never brewed with Jasmine itself, but I've used both dried and fresh blossoms of other varieties.

Truthfully, I percieve more floral character from the times when I used the fresh blossoms. Pluck em fresh, toss em in the kettle towards the end and call it a day.

Considering how pleasant Jasmine is to look at, that might be...well...revealing.

Funny, I was going to post a similar topic.

I see Drew chimed in regarding fresh / dry flowers... How much do you normally add when using fresh flowers?
