How much trub do you end up with in your boil kettle? I end up with 1.5 gallons, so I alter all my recipes to make 6.5 gallons. What volume of trub do you get? I use the two plastic bucket method from my lauter tun. I am thinking that the 1/8 inch holes are too large and causes the excess trub. I do vorlauf or what ever it's called when you take the first runnings and pour it back in the lauter tun.
