OK, this place is going to be great. Hanging out on the back deck with a view of the creek on a warm summer night? Awesome! Great line up at a place that knows and loves good beer. The Monkey has twenty taps (not all of them up and running last night) and I had a Black Diamond Rampage, a couple Rubicon Monkey Knife Fights and an Uncommon Brewers Golden State Ale.
The owner, Jim Blair, has a nanobrewery on-site currently and he and MoreBeer's Kyle Somers will begin brewing as Excelsior Brewing as soon as they have more fermentor space available and have plans to put a 15-barrel brewhouse in across the street.
There are two more soft openings on Friday and Saturday (sold out already) but the place should be open for business next week. If you are a beer fan in the East Bay (or anywhere, really) you owe it to yourself to come to Martinez and check it out.
