Is there a method to add bookmarks if you don't own an ipod?

I've got a generic MP3 player and every time you shut it off, it starts over at the beginning of the file. The interface doesn't allow for easy fast forwarding within a file, and bookmarks would be great.

Thanks!

The short answer is no. The Ipod plays both mp3s and apple's proprietary AAC format. The mp3 format doesn't support bookmarks. The AAC file does, and it only plays on apple's ipod.

BTW, ipods also allow for easy fast forward within a file. If you listen to lots of podcasts, they're a good investment.

I was afraid of that. Looks like I'll have another item on the Christmas list.
