No yeast

Sat Feb 10, 2007 7:40 pm

 I started brewing a batch of pale ale and I realized my kit didn't come with any yeast. It's too late to get to a homebrew shop(180 miles away) So now what? I'm I just hosed?

I'm afraid you are hosed unless you can find another brewer close by to loan you some yeast. If I remember right, you are in Kansas. If you are anywhere near Salina, send Henning a PM.

Either that or grow up a starter from one of your homebrews...?

yep, I'm in Kansas, but Salina is about 1 hour and 20 minutes away. I'm home alone with the kids tonight. It might be hard to find a sitter to watch the kids so I can get beer supplies. Thanks for the response. I'm going to order extra yeast tomorrow to have on hand. So if anyone in central Kansas is in a bind like me tonight I would be happy to help out. Cause this sucks. Thanks for the response.

Hey Dia I got a packet of muttons right here you can have I will pm you my phone number if you want it its yours just come get it tommorow. and on that growing up a starter. Take some of the wort you just made sanatize the top of a home brew with yeast in the bottom pour into a glass then pour the new wort in on top of the yeast in the bottle and crimp with foil and keep warm. I like 2 put this stuff on top of the fridge for heat.

WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO :D

I just remembered I have a batch of Bitter that I got for X-Mas. I'll rob the yeast out of that one. Life just got a little sweeter!

Thanks for all the responses. It's amazing how the fellow brewers are willing to come the rescue.
