Re: Clone of RR IPA & Blind Pig

I have made the blind pig and it turns out fantastic. It was a partygyle actually but the grain was based on blind pig. I just made a pale with the other wort.

Anyways, this is what I have for the RR IPA

The grain bill is simple, it is 80% 2-row, 6% caramel 40 malt, 6% carapils, & 8% Vienna malt We mash at 151-152.

It is bittered with magnum, 45 minute centennial, 30 minute cascade, and it is finished and dry hopped with Willamette, cascade, and centennial, and CTZ. It is fermented with calif. Ale yeast.

the website lists a starting OG 1064 and 6.75% ABV and 62 IBUs so that should be pretty easy.

Does anyone have the official Russian River IPA hop schedule from Vinnie? It would help to know the quantities of each addition, particularly the later flavor/aroma additions. This is also my favorite RR hoppy beer.

Hello fellow brewers, this is my first post. I'm a long time beer drinker and a first time brewer. I've done a couple of Extract Kits and I'm able to follow directions pretty well. I want to start brewing some of the recipies that I've seen here on the forum. But before moving on, I'm having a problem. The problem is reading a recipe when no times are added to a recipe. Is there a normal time and temp for mashing the grains when extractin the wort? For example with this recipe that was posted, how long and at what temps would one mash and sparge the grains for? If this recipe is for a 5 Gal batch, how much wort would I collect before bring it to a boil to start adding my hops? I just want to be able to a posted recipe and be able to read it and brew it. Thanks for the help in advanced. :jnj

If I read correctly, you have done a few extract batches, and want to start doing AG??? Good on you....but before jumping in head first, you might want to read How to Brew, by John Palmer.....BEST book on the streets for homebrewing....and will answer questions even you didn't know you had!! Version 1 can be found at http://www.howtobrew.com.

And welcome to the asylum!!!! :asshat:
