Oxygen regulator

Wed Oct 06, 2010 2:04 am

Does anyone have a good source for a disposable oxygen tank regulator. The little brass ones with the hose barb have been next to impossible to find for the past couple of months. If I can't track one down soon I'm going to have to go over to medical oxygen and a medical style regulator but I hate the added expense. There is beer to make however...

Oxygen is also used for welding, so you don't have to pay for "medical" grade. The guy at the place I get mine says it all comes out of the same bulk tank anyway. Get a small welding O2 tank and a CGA 540 type regulator that will fit it with a flowmeter like this one and you'll be all set. I've had mine for 4 years and wonder if It'll ever run out.

The one I had was from a mapp gas/oxygen welding kit I picked up at a hardware store years ago for around $30. I haven't seen one of those kits around in a while, though I haven't been looking either. HomebrewHeaven apparently has the regulator in stock. http://store.homebrewheaven.com/oxygena ... -p571.aspx
They seem to be about $10 higher than Morebeer, but then again Morebeer doesn't have any.

+1. I've had mine for over a year and still going strong. Wish my regulator had that neat flow thingy.

I've got one of the Bernzomatic MAPP gas setups. It's not a regulator, just a valve. It's yours for $20.00, torch and all, if you want to go that way instead.
