Ive brewed it as is except as a wheat wine, 60/40 split of marris otter to wheat. I've also had more than a few growlers of the Walking Man beer that it's inspired by. It's a really good recipe. I might recommend going even higher on the IBU's though if you plan to age it. Our batch is about 2 months old at this point and it seems ready to drink mostly because the bitterness is pretty well balanced with the residual malt/alcohol sweetness. That said wheat is a whole different beast.

Notes:
This recipe was inspired by Old Stumblefoot, an incredible barleywine by Bob Walker of Walking Man Brewery in Southern Washington. He only used Marris Otter floor malt and East Kent Goldings, producing a wonderful beer, that had such a killer aroma, balanced malt to hop ratio, not to sweet, not to bitter, considering the 12.3% that was hidden nicely.
