I just got my Beer Advocate Magazine in the mail, and they reviewed both beers mentioned in the show: How to Disappear and Atlantic IPA (the original IPA recipe, shipped on their fishing boat). Both rated very well, though I think Brewdog humbly underplayed both.

I gotta hand it to those guys for having some balls and standing up for what they believe. They are making their their country and this world better place because of it.
In keg:
Doppelbock
Berliner Weisse
DIPA
Dortmunder

On deck:
Emma's Brown

I saw the reveiw, too, and was puzzled by the description. "Bright gold"? With chocolate malt and crystal 120? Mine's gold with red highlights and a tan head. (I said head.)

EDIT: Assuming skipper is correct that the color is in EBC, then (EBC=Lx2.65) I could replace the Crystal 120 with Crystal 40, and that would get me around 12 SRM. Close to gold. Hmm. I might have to brew another batch.

I love the deep orange red color, but wonder how it would turn out different with 40...

Hmm... Let's try the first pull at least, next weekend!

Judging by the picture you posted, I think you got it pretty much right, looking at this video review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUzMOHrs1O4.

Will post a picture of mine on the weekend. I used Baird's Medium Crystal (120-140EBC) from the UK. Suspect mine is a little on the light side.

Wow! I tasted this and... Wow!!!

It's good, tastes just like an IIPA! It is a little thin, I might bump up some Carapils or something for more body, but it tastes good.

Dirk- it's still a little undercarbed, but soon!

Mine's a bit thin, too, but what do you expect for 1.040? I like this more and more as it ages.

As promised, here's a photo of mine. It's a little murkier than previous pours...suspect that's because it has sat undisturbed for a week or so.

I just came back from Austin Homebrew Supply, and a visit to Grapevine Market where I scored some Lagunitas Imperial Red. Except for the higher alcohol content, this is what How To Disappear completely tastes like: complete with the tobacco notes.

And I will be sending BE a bomber of mine this week and a couple of bombers to the Rat Pad.
