BYO BrewCast?

Thu Sep 03, 2009 11:13 am

Just happened upon this page through a google search: http://www.byo.com/resources/brewcast
Before I go trashing BYO, can someone tell me why there's not a single reference to the Brewing Network? They just branded all the podcasts as their own. WTF? I can't imagine Justin hasn't seen this yet. Is there some sort of strategy or agreement in place? Maybe more BYO users will click/listen if they think the podcasts are presented by BYO? I know once you start listening it's all BN but why did BYO display it on their site like they created the episodes?

In the end I guess it doesn't matter too much. The fact the BYO is pushing the podcasts on their site opens the shows up to more listeners. It just touched a nerve with me when I first saw it.

I with you Sam, I see the connection because they are only posting episodes where Jamil, John Palmer or Chris Colby or in them because of the BYO connection but proper branding would seem to make sense, a simple hop grenade or something next to the podcast. I am certain James Spencer would want something similar as well.

Please remember that The Session, much like thatothershow, is for entertainment purposes only. There is absolutely no coverage of beer or beer culture.

All the episodes before late 2008 say "'BYO Style Profile' author Jamil Zainasheff appears on The Brewing Network " or some such.

BYO and TBN are business partners, so I don't think there's any malicious intent. Also, if anyone listens, Jamil constantly says "The Brewing Network" and "Support the Brewing Network by clicking on the Donate button on thebrewingnetwork.com" and so on. I don't think a listener would stay confused for long.

Fuck feelings.
Jan Wolfhouse: So yeah, I heard you got fired from the brewery?

Landfill: [Landfill gets mad, throws his trophy] God damn brewery! You know that brewery makes 10,000 bottles of beer a day. I drink 45 of them, and I'm the asshole!
