Homebrew Podcasts...

Let me start by explaining what a loser I must be: I've spent the last 2 years of my drive time (1:15 hour each way) listening to EVERY episode of each of the BN's podcasts/shows. I have FINALLY gotten completely caught up (yea, from the 1st episodes of each show) and have started looking at the "other" homebrew podcasts available today.

After listening to several episodes of each podcast that I've found; I must say that the BN consistently delivers the best produced (I've found only 1 other podcast which is produced as well) shows affecting our beloved hobby. While I have a clear bias towards BN programming (and have been a supporter for a while) I just wanted to let J & the Brewcasters (TM) know how much I appreciate their YEARS of quality work (and sometimes beer INFORMACION).

Keep it up and keep going -> Hmm, how often do you hear that?

I've been doing the same thing Jimbo, but I only get about 50 minutes total per day. I squeeze in some extra time here and there, and I'm currently in August 2007 of the Session. Best parts of my day! I discovered the BN March 2008, listened to a couple shows live, and vowed not to do so again until I was caught up on as much info and inside jokes as possible. There is really no reason for this vow, other than my own OCD problems. After months of daily BN time, I decided to break my vow and tuned in last week. It was pretty late in the show, and I was kind of just wondering if they were still going. What did I get? Beer Informacion? Handy gadget crafting tips? Advice on temp control? NOPE. I got feelings fest 2009. Fucking feelings.

Yep, I guess I figured that listening to each show in order was as close as I would get to understand the jokes and history of the Brewcasters (mostly from the Sunday Show - whoops, I mean the Session )

In a way it was kinda like following a soap opera - starts off with J being nice to guests and really trying to get "beer information" out to the world, Oz & Bub being big parts of the shows, Doctoberfest, Daniella leaving, Oz gone, Bub gone, (show much more popular now...) J getting "less nice" with guests, stripper poles, JZ's introduction, John Plise gone, casa de muerte, Push's song, Sulley... I know these are not exactly in order, but the events and time that's passed is a history that I felt like I (maybe not participated in...) know. When folks meet ANY of the brewcasters - this is HOW we/I know them, their voices, personalities, values, etc.

Anyway, it's been a great journey...

Having made my way through the entire Session archive since last Fall, I have to admit that I've moved on to the archives of That Other Show. It's interesting to hear J and JP back in their early days again. Fewer fucking feelings...

I've listened to that other show's archives from start to finish twice now, but only just finished listening to the session episode where the Homebrew Chef did his presentation on going to Rochefort.

I've got a ways to go still, but I get a good 2.5 hours worth of listening each work day on the train to and from work.
