Peace Tree

New brewery in Iowa, they are getting a lot of publicity here. Tried 3 of their beers so far. Pretty damn good so far.
HopWrangler IPA - Slap you in the face hop smell/taste (can feel the hop oil), great malt flavor behind it, I do wish the malt flavor stood out a little more, but would definately buy it again.

Red Rambler - not really my thing, I'm not huge on reds so they need to blow me away, and it didn't. That being said, I've had way worse reds than that.

Double IPA - Yum. Smooth and easy drinking for 9.5%abv. Unlike the hop wrangler, I think this could use a touch more hops, but still a top notch beer.

I still need to try the rye porter in my fridge, but I'm very impressed with such a young brewery.
My wife used to call me an alcoholic, so I started brewing beer. Now I have a hobby, and I'm a beer enthusiast, not an alcoholic.

Ask the Beer/Wine/Liquor manager at Hy-Vee. I was able to order a keg of Peace Tree Rye Porter from Hy-Vee. That's going through a local distributor. It's at a Hy-Vee in Sioux City, so Council Bluffs stands a good chance.

ALSO, Their website say's you can get it at:
New Pioneer Co-op
1101 2nd St
Council Bluffs, Iowa 51501

I've met the people, good folks, nice tasting room, they encourage patrons to order from the neighboring restaurants and bring the food into the tasting room. Pretty original, I had not heard of that before.

I live about 15 miles away from the brewery and our club here in our town is striking up a relationship with them.

Just tried their rye porter tonight, very tasty. They are 3 for 4 for me. They keep producing quality brews like this they'll have some real staying power. Can't wait to try something new from them.

I appreciate any and all breweries in Iowa, but I thought their IPA was atrocious...

They use Belgian yeasts for everything so their IPA has a bit of Belgian character. I can see that being offputting for some.

Not for me though, I think their Hop Wrangler is outstanding.
