Anyone know a good store bought extract kit?

Hey guys and gals. My brothers birthday is coming up and he is looking into brewing. I offered to set him up with a custom all you need extract kit in the past, but hes stubborn and wants a store bought kit by a company because he wants set extract refill kits for it and the company support. Why he does I have no clue. He has only seen my AG brewing and doesn't understand how I come up with grain mixes and how yeast particularly works so I think not having a manual intimidates him.

Does anyone know of any store bought extract kits he could use. Currently I only know of 2, Coopers and Mr.Beer, and I'm not sure how either taste. Also the Mr. Beer kits look very small, and doesn't have that legit brewing look. Preferably something he can build from too. Worst case scenario, he makes a kit and decides it tastes like crap and sticks with store bought / my beer. :x

I do not like the majority of store bought extract kits, or any kits for that matter. However, MoreBeer! and Northern Brewer are in the minority. Their kits are of the highest quality. Half the Signature series kits from MoreBeer! are BN brewcasters or guests. And Northern Brewer has great kits too. Check out both their websites for their kits, and you won't go wrong.

Brewcraft puts out some decent kits. I started on one of these and it made a decent beer. They come in a nice shiny box with instructions if you think thats what your bro is looking for. Although I think you have to supply your own yeast if I remember correctly. Also they seemed to provide a variety of diferent types of ingredients to give you a feel for different ways to brew i.e. the couple I have seen came with hop pellets for bittering and whole leaf for aroma, part of the extract was dry and part was liquid. I thought this was pretty cool as it exposed me to the different types of ingredients available. Anyway here is their website with retail locations in the us.
