Great Ohio Brews

There are a great many "Great" beers in the world these days, especially here in the USA. After years of living in the dark, having tasteless, fizzy, yellow beer shoved down our throats by the Big 3's marketing departments, we passionate, patriotic beer lovers have finally climbed out of our dark caves and seen the dawning of a new age of great American craft beers.
We have been shown the light by the likes of Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, Sam Adams, Dogfish, Rogue, Stone, Bell's and many, many more. Their contributions to our taste buds and our desire for good beer shall never be forgotten or...overlooked.
We Midwesterners here in the great state of Ohio applaud their great efforts and wish them continued success in their endeavors to bring real beer to the masses. They truly do deserve all the accolades and press they receive.
However, here in the "Rust Belt" of Ohio we sometimes feel that our own great breweries aren't receiving the same acclaim as these media darlings. Here in Ohio we have a long and proud brewing tradition started by brave European brewers who immigrated to this region, and the young wildcatters of today who are continuing and/or restarting our great brewing traditions.
Here in Ohio today we have GABF and World Beer Cup winners such as Hoppin Frog, Great Lakes Brewery, Thirsty Dog and the return of the great Christian Moerlein brewery. Along with new stars such as Indigo Imp, Barrel House, Mt. Carmel, Weasel Boy and many more small breweries and brewpubs. Breweries who are bringing back the wonderful traditional styles of our forefathers, but also creating new spins on old styles, stretching the limits as far as any of their more well known brewing cousins on either coast.
So next time you're perusing the wall of new beers in your favorite shop, be truly adventurous and try a few brewed with deserving midwestern pride in Ohio.

The traditional "beer states" like CO are always keeping those Ohio beers down:

Well done Snyder Brewing Group of Cleveland.
