Drank a fresh bottle tonight. Definite citrus nose and flavor, though not overwhelming. Having drank a Sam Adams Brown Ale before the Harpoon IPA and a Sierra Nevada 12th Anniversary Beer afterward, I will say that it certainly held its own as an IPA. Not over the top, but not exceptionally subtle either.

I'm going to have to agree with original poster on this one. I'm sitting here in the Clark Street Ale House in Chicago drinking an Harpoon IPA. To be honest it taste like pear flavored water to me. Perhaps this is also a stale or old batch as well, but it's on tap and Chicago really isn't that far from Boston, is it? How hard should it be to get a fresh keg here. Anyway, it will likely be a long while before I brave another Harpoon IPA.

I think it's about half way

I think of Harpoon as more English than American, more fruity...
