Re: Ever Get Any Infected Brews?

Any beer ever brewed by Clipper City (In Md.) was contaminated.
One lager I had actually tasted like the Chesapeake Bay on a hot August afternoon. Fishy, briny, just plain foul.
I think they stuck a siphon hose directly into the bay to fill their brew tanks that day.

had a rogue chocolate stout that tasted like a box of bandaids and a lagaunites ipa that was just wrong. it looked like i got about an ounce of hops in my bomber. poured it in the glass and it looked like i had dumped a bottle of fish food in it. i tried to drink through the flakes but the texture of the chunks almost made me blow chunks.

I had a Whitsun from Arcadia that was a gusher. It was 2 or 3 years ago. I called the brewery and they sent me my money back with a pint glass and some stickers.

Any brewery can have a bad bottle once in a while, but what the brewery did for me when I called them on it made me respect them all the more. I am a huge fan of their beers.

just poured my first infected beer from my own doing. i made jamils oatmeal stout and i was drunk while brewing, so i passed out while chilling and woke up about 5 hours later. i pitched and didnt think anything more about it until i tapped the keg tonight. it tastes slightly sour, which makes me think some lacto took hold before i got the yeasties in there. this is my first bad batch since getting my process dialed in, all my fault. i drank four pints during the show tonight, it kind of reminds me of guinness with the mild sourness, so i'm not gonna dump it. yet.

Are you sure it is an infection? Sometimes stouts can have a slight acidity from all the roasted grains.

Bourbon barrel barleywine from Beermans.
The 1 lieter bottle was hand sighned and numbered. # 95 . Classic buttered popcorn. I was so dissapointed . These things happen though. Ive had others but I think this one is my most memorable. My last one I had was a Meantime Brewing Scotch ale. That one pissed me off. $15 bucks down the drain . Smoked vinegar . real gross
