I'm not sure I understand why but Ipa's seem to be a very hit or miss subject...at least for me and people I know. Either love it or hate it. I haven't noticed a whole lot of overlap.

Just 1 opinion, though.

For sure. It can also depend on what order you are drinking your brews in as well. One day I was really looking forward to trying another Avery beer so I decided to go out for a burger and a Maharaja. Well about 1/3rd into the beer I came to the conclusion that the Maharaja was the most bitter fusel alcoholic beer I had ever tasted. Obviously Adam Avery and the brewers over there know what they are doing so it wasn't the beer, but if you are not in the right mood or if your palate is not ready for a strong IPA, your taste buds are just going to be inconvenienced by hop aroma and bitterness. Long story short I've tried it under different circumstances and it was a fantastic brew.

Sam Adams Lat 48 is a good IPA with training wheels. I put bitterness between a SNPA and a Bell's Two Hearted. Halfway and 6%. I think it's a great gateway IPA for the lame BMC drinkers.

If you take what I post here literally, you're retarded. I'm here to fuck around, have a good time, and learn about beer. You mean nothing to me and I mean nothing to you.

I Tried the Lat 48 last year. usually i'm a big hop head or maybe my pallet was fresh but i found this beer to be overly bitter and a huge floral bomb. Like someone said earlier it seems they focused on the noble hopping and its apparent. I thought for the floral flavor the bitterness was dry and almost astringent. I also lean to toward citrus focused IPAs.
