I just tasted tonight on tap at Down Town Johnny Browns. It was a bit funky, IMO. Something was off about it. It was a little thin on the mouthfeel and had a bit of a mousey/funky aroma. I just had a 4 oz taster of it though and had just had a glass of Lost Abbey's BB Sinners Blend 09, so it's tough to follow a beer like that. Intrested to taste it with a fresher pallet. Not overly impressed...

Oh fuck if I know. And fuck SN/DFH for naming two beers like that!!! The one I had was on tap. It was pretty big, and both SN and DFH had good representation there. So now I am pissed and boycotting DFH, because I'm sure it was Sam's fucking idea to name that shit that way. In the meantime, I'll pretend that Palo Santo is from some other brewery.

As per the SN site, the Life & Limb is 10% and the second-running Limb & Life is 5%, so I'm guessing you had the big one. I can't wait for people to start referring to these beers as L&L; that won't be confusing at all. The "bottle-conditioned with birch syrup" thing sounds really interesting, but I remember reading an article in either BYO or Zymurgy a couple years back that did a fairly scientific taste-test with various conditioning sugars, and I seem to remember that the general consensus was that the simpler the conditioning sugar, the better the result.

Just picked up 3 bottles of Life and Limb at the local BevMo! I'm considering going back and buying more.

Anyone know if this is worth cellaring for a while? If so, how long?

if you have Limb and Life before Life and Limb the Limb and Life will suck hard. it's really thin, there's really no body to it at all. however, Life and Limb stands up to a pre Limb and Life tasting. it's big nodding you subliminally that it will stand the test and taste of time. unlike the Limb and Life which will have no life after this one.

I happened to be at Sierra Nevada the day they brewed it....had dinner with Sam and Ken....halfway through dinner Ken walked off and came back with a tray full of small cups with some of the second runnings.

I haven't had the fermented stuff yet
