I tried it last week. I didn't think it was that bad.

Tried it last weekend. The aroma was nice, but the taste was bland. I'll be surprised if it finds a market.

But wouldn't we all be surprised if Budweiser "American Lager" would find a market today? With a behemoth like AB (InBev), they'll find people to buy it, if they have to ram it down their throats. I'm sure they'll have to do something a little more drastic to really capture any of the Craft Beer market, but this product might actually cannibalize some of their existing lager market.

I loved Grist Licker's review of this by the way...

Had a couple last night. Better than I expected but I doubt if I'll get it again.

Picked up a sixer yesterday for my bro-in-law, bud drinker. I think it's better than any other craft wannabe from SAB/Miller or InBev. He didn't find it too offensive either. It might actually have the reverse intended effect - to lure Bud drinkers over to our side.... interesting.

I was initially excited and worried at the same time when I heard about this product--I thought, ok here we go--AB has woken up to the craft beer revolution after losing market share, and is poised to put out a product that could be perhaps a technically perfect example of an American Amber Ale, according to BJCP. Turns out it is still bud, through and through. Hop aroma is minimal at best, body is thin--very little malt character, and most annoying, it is clearly full of adjuncts. I was hoping for an all-malt beverage, but they clearly use corn for a significant portion of the grist.

Not my cup of tea, at least I tried.

Just poured myself one of these. The comments above seem to be right on the mark--little to no hop aroma, firm bitterness and a low to medium hop flavor, not much malt backbone though. I wouldn't call this a good beer, but it's good enough to make me consider ordering it in one of those places whose draft selection consists of AB products, Fat Tire, and Blue Moon.

Just noticed this on the bottle: "Budweiser American Ale defines a new style of ale--The American Ale--created by Anheuser-Busch brewmasters to deliver robust ale taste that's full-bodied, but not too heavy nor too bitter". New style? Really? Does throwing adjuncts into the grist of an APA define a new style?
