I asked for a draft sample at a local joint and the nice barkeep pulled me a shot or two. my wife and I both thought it tasted a little off. She described it as "thin". Maybe they forgot to add the "malt flavored product" they likely developed for this beer.

I picked up a 22oz. of this while I was buying some Powerball tickets at the local Cig'n'suds tonight, it was next to the Chimay White of all places (what I was actually there to purchase besides lotto tix). It's not too bad... very unremarkable when compared to a craftbrewed APA, but I like it better than Bass. A little too much caramel sweetness in the middle, and not enough aroma. Has a fleeting hint of maltiness that disappears if you breath out too hard. I'd drink this at a dive bar, redneck wedding at the fire hall, etc. where there would be slim pickins for a more decent beer... about two notches below Sam's Boston Lager, and about a notch above Beck's in my book.

ADDENDUM: It gave me some wicked ale-ass too :eek

yeah...

tried it... kinda seems like the kids who wear all the skater clothes but would break their dick-bone if they ever actually tried to get on a skateboard...

it's just another attempt to get on the craft brewing bandwagon...good entry-level beer for those friends who only drink bud and coors

Exactly my thoughts! With all the money, man-power, and equipment these bastid's have, why the hell not do it absolutely perfect? Instead they come out with a hollow example of a craft beer. And is anyone else completely peeved by them using pry-off caps? They obviously did it 100% as marketing whereas most craft brewers who use them do it because of the simpler/cheaper equipment expense.

A guy (bud distributor) did a review of this one early last year. It wasn't favorable.

I've seen the stuff on the shelf. Wondered if AB/Inbev could figure out how to do an ale after all those years of making cheap adjunct lager. Considering the Hop Hound and Shock Top catastrophies I was not tempted.

Maybe I'll buy exactly _*ONE*_ and find out. That's about all the change I'm willing to throw at St Louis.
