I don't really follow you on this one.

Have you tried it? It is far from "piss." Not saying it's incredible, but I don't play that, "hate the big company because they happen to make money selling a product that appeals to most people" game. I'll try any beer.

All I am saying is don't knock it until you try it. It's an unexpected good effort from a macro brewery.

I think he was referring to The Pope Jamil, stating that Tasty could piss in a glass, tell him it was beer, he would gladly drink it, and he's sure it would taste great. But I think Tasty is the only person's piss I'd ever consider drinking...

I can't believe I just typed that!

Brew Engineer nailed it! Well done..Tell him what he's won Don Pardo! (in big announcer voice)

You have to understand we are talking about a specific beer brewed by AB! You can't let them trick you into thinking this is a "Craft Beer"! It's as far from a craft beer as you can get...

The only way I'd ever taste this swill is if someone tricked me and told me it was something else and even then I'm sure I would spit it out before they told me what it really was.

You scratch your head and ask, "OK, what are they trying to do with this?" Mylo and Brew Engineer make good points about what market they are aiming for. Are they going to convert craft beer drinkers over to AB? "No way!" But they might convert some of the unenlightened beer drinkers over to see the light (no not bud light). And they will become Craft Beer enthusiasts...

So through this forum I've changed my view...maybe Bud American Ale is a good thing...

I can't believe I just wrote that
Enjoy Great Beer!

I don't think it's craft beer. In fact I don't limit my scope of beer I buy (or drink) to just craft beer. I love some Pilsner Urquel or Stella or Spaten or Sam Adams for what it's worth. They are far from craft beer (exception SA .. debateable).

I guess my point it, why not try it? I could care less if you brewed it or AB brewed it or Russian River brewed it ... I'm trying it. I don't let the label decide whether a beer is bad or not.

'Tis true. I have had some "craft brew" that has tasted worse than bad homebrew. I think that some of you that share TapIt's point of view are getting all twisted up with the term "craft brew". Should small production volume be part of that definition? I'm not sure. If it is, they you can definitely rule out Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. Like other craft foods - I think it the term speaks to a focus on quality ingredients and/or a process that is, in some respects, handmade. Certainly this beer is "limited quantity", and does have a larger percentage of quality ingredients. It was probably made in a small pilot A-B brewery that is similar to size and scale of other craftbreweries.

Fuck it. It's beer. Nobody would say that Pilsner Urquel, Bass, or even Red Hook is "macro swill". I don't care who makes it. I taste all brands and styles of beer before I pass my judgement - which IS very subjective. I tasted the Bud Ale... It wasn't that bad. It didn't wow me. I probably won't buy it, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad beer. It IS, however, the best beer with Budweiser on the label that I have had. And it was relatively cheap. Perhaps the college kids will buy it religiously. I just think that it might serve as the "gateway Bud" that drives people away from Bud and into better stuff.

As I mentioned in my first post on this topic, A good friend had mentioned that he had tasted this "American Ale" and told me point blank it was CRAP! The friend I speak of is the Executive Chef at a very successful Craft Brewery and Restuarant and has an amazing pallat. He teaches classes on beer and food pairings. And is also working on a book of beer tastings. We've had tastings for many great beers and some not so great. But when he tells me to stear clear of a beer (hey that rhymes), he doesn't have to tell me twice. So that's where I'm coming from!

I agree with you that all craft beer is not great, but we are not talking about a craft beer here...
Beer tasting is subjective so if you like this beer...great enjoy!

If your trying to decide if you want to buy some, don't!!! Spend a couple more bucks and support your local Craft Brewer
Enjoy Great Beer!
