Well I drank most of it. I think if I'd just had a 2oz pour I would have been happy. Trying to drink the whole bottle was just to much for me. I'm a light weight.

Since everyone seems to be sounding off on the DFH selections, I thought I'd throw my thoughts in. I don't really care for their IPAs. I'm not that much of an IPA person tho. Their Raison D'Etre is one of my all time favorite beers. Everything else that I've had from them has been good(ish).

I agree, the Rainson D'etre is a good beer. I accidentally stumbled on this one when i got a 6 of the 60. 3 of them were the Raison (someone swapped to make a mix pack). However, I love the 60. The 120 is an insane brew, i was only able to drink a few ounces as well.

Christ on a bike, this will be my dinner! :shock: I picked one up last time I went to Tampa (ok, Land O' Lakes) where the family is and I've been looking forward to it for a while. I was in the mood for something strong to put me to sleep after a crappy day. Unfortunately I opened & poured it BEFORE I looked at the DFH website to learn it was 20%!!! Since you guys made it through I'm gonna give it my best (esp. because I paid $10 for 12 oz), but I can see that tomorrow morning is gonna suck. I think I may break out the Robitussin & do a side by side comparison. Yepper, this seems to be a 2-4 oz dessert beer.

I also have been looking for the 120 for quite some time.

Last month I was in Telluride Colorado & low and behold there it was. Staring me right in the face through the clear glass doors at the liquor store.

I quickly grabbed it and my heart was racing.......as I examined the 4 pack closely, soaking up everything that came with this fabled IPA.

But then.....!!!.......!@!!!!

"Bottled on 04/2007" ?????? What???

Instantly, my heart fell into my stomach. I slowly put it back on the shelf.

There is no way I am drinking an IPA that is that big and that old.

I have found that IPA's lose their balance very fast. Even locally, I am hesitant to ever buy IPA's unless I know when they came in. There is nothing I hate more than "old" IPA. Heck, I can get Pliny the Elder & Blind Pig(RRBC) fresh on draft across the street. Those are fresh.

That being said, I would very much like to go back east and try these beers fresh. I really do not think that any of their ipa's, 60,90 or 120 can be that good after a huge trek across the US, time on a hot shelf & light struck from the showroom floor.

Some of you have mentioned aging it. I wonder about that a little. If it really is a barleywine then ok. But if it is just a sweet, out of balance, old IPa, I am sorry but no thanks.

I am biased. I prefer a dry ipa from the west as opposed to a dextrinous ipa from the east coast. On the east I know they feel differently. Ok. To each is his own.

I hate to tell you this, but you didn't see the 120 Min IPA in a 4 pack. You probably saw the 90 Min instead. 120 Min is sold individually, not in 4 packs.

I think you made a bad call there with the DFH 120. It's not your typical IPA. It's a huge, 20% alcohol, ridiculously overhopped IIPA. It ages extremely well.

Again, the DFH 90, and even the 60, are not typical east coast IPAs. If you get a chance, check them out.

So why not call it what it is. A Barley Wine.

After all Barley Wines are heavily hopped just like an huge IPA. Barley Wines just age better.
