Well, back sometime around 96, I brewed a Bo Pils (extract, at the time). It was cold as fuck in the garage, and I was having trouble maintaining a nice boil. So.... I left the cover mostly on (who knew?). Well, I tasted it after primary and it tasted like olives and cabbage fucked and had mutant cabbageolive kids in my fermenter. Down the drain it went.

My first attempt at a Rasberry Wheat for my wife (an extract recipe). Not sure if it was the fact that I boiled the berries then dumped the berry soup into the kettle, or if it was the copper scrubbie I put on the end of the dip tube. It had a horrible metalic taste to it though.

Glad to say though that I brewed an all-grain version this past winter that turned out superb.
On Tap:
1. Black as Coal Stout
2. Yellow Snow Pils
3. Smivey Brown Christmas Ale
4. Blueberry Pie Blonde

Secondary: empty
Primary: Doo Doo Brown Ale

I've only ever dumped one (although I've had a couple I used only for cooking).
The first time I tried wood :unicornrainbow: I got me a mesh bag, some oak chips etc. The book said to weigh it down with some stainless washers or something. Found some, dropped the whole thing in there. Month or so later came to sample. Tasted like liquid steel. I guess either the washers weren't stainless or they had something on them that I didn't clean off; it was truly awful, and maybe even toxic. Sad day.

My most recent "cooking only" beer was following one of Randy M's recipes for a chilli beer in Radical Brewing. You can probably guess; figured I like it spicy, lets go with the upper end of the range. Worked great for cooking...well, chilli.

Worst beer ever made:
Munton's Dry Lager can-kit
Wyeast lager yeast (Pilsen)
It was a rookie mistake to just smack the 5-6 month-old pack and tossed it in.
Nice stressed yeast...
No activity shown after 5 days at 60F
Found another Wyeast pack of same strain locally, weeks from manuf. date.
Smacked, threw in.
Fermentation signs started next day.
Wouldn't clear, wouldn't clear, wouldn't clear.
Springtime in Canada so put carboy in garage still going to 32F or below at night
Put vodka in airlock so wouldn't freeze -- only had lime vodka. No big deal---just for airlock.
Airlock had a crack and all vodka went into carboy.
Beer eventually cleared and mannnnnnnnnnn with the plastic chlorophenols!!!!!
Local member of brewing club dubbed it "the worst ---ing beer I've ever tasted", and many agreed.

Proud of that one!

An infected American Wheat. Not sure where I failed in sanitation on that batch, but strong medicinal band aid made me toss most of this keg. Waited a few months to see if it got better, but slowly became worse until the nastiness leveled off. It was the first (and only) time I shared my ferment fridge with another brewer's carboy as he was out of space, but don't think infections can jump the airlock - although his batch was infected as well. I replaced my racking cane and hose after this batch.

The second beer I ever brewed was the worst by far. For some reason I wanted to do a Holiday spiced beer. Problem was I threw all kinds of different spice in it. Not just the normal dried orange peel, coriander, star anise, cinnamon and pepper, but some others too. Like Rose hips, dried red peppers and some wood chips too. Plus I put a coriander seed in each bottle. Talk about haaaaarible. I still have some bottles of it stashed away to give as Holiday gifts to those few special people!
Enjoy Great Beer!

Due to heavy rain falls my last APA got a good dose of local river flora that I didn't notice till bottling time.

Beer was just drinkable and tasted of hops and peat ... four friends didn't even notice, but the wife could tell I'd opened a bottle from the adjacent room.
