Advice on Oatmeal Pumpkin Stout

Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:58 pm

Going to toast the oats and possibly add more pumpkin spice in the secondary to taste if it is not up to par. Also there will be 2 roasted sugar pumpkins with brown sugar on them in the mash. Mash at 154 F, 1.054 OG, 28 IBU

9lbs UK 2-row
1lb Toasted flaked oats
12oz Chocolate Malt
8oz Aromatic Malt
8oz 80L Crystal
8oz Roasted Barley
4oz Special Roast

2oz Golding Hops (60)
2 tsp Pumpkin Spice (0)
1 Pkg 1968 yeast London ESB

Possibly swap out the 1 tsp pumpkin spice toward the end and put it toward the 30 minute mark.

I don't think moving the spice addition up is gonna gain you anything. I'd leave it at the end.
