I got that recipe from my last fresh hop ale brewed last year from the sterling hops I had growing in my backyard. I've never had a beer that tasted better. And living the last 5 years in Oregon, I've had a lot of beers... So I'm hoping the same with subbing EKGs... But it just seems a bit early to be harvesting hops, when my hops in my backyard still look like they have a few weeks if not a month to go.... My hops really took off late, but when I was talking to the farmers at the hop farm, they are already harvesting hops this week... I will be getting my ass down there ASAP!

Well it will be a marathon day, starting the brew, running down to the hop farm, cutting some bines, hauling them back, picking the hops, finishing the brew, and hoping to still be able to go fishing..

That was a long day... Got over 5 pounds of fresh EKGs off of the bine and into the kettle and mash tun-turned-hop back all in the last 10 minutes of boil...

I wish I could grow hydroponic hops year round so that I could always have fresh hop beers!

Next week - Crystal hops, and then few weeks after that are Sterling Hops.
