Dry Hopped the AHA Heretic Amber

Sat May 10, 2014 10:28 am

So I just started dry hopping the wort I got from Heretic 2 weeks ago and this is my hops choice:

2 oz CTZ
6 oz Calypso
2 oz Chinook

What do you folks think about that hop choice? Do you think the quantity is too much for dry hopping 5 gallons?

It's too late now but, still I wanna see what you folks think.

I've dry hoped a few beers with10 Oz of hops and I don't see an issue. I just scored a 41 on an IPA today that had
4 oz CTZ,
2 oz Chinook
2 oz Simcoe.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

I wanna score a 41! The highest I ever got was a 38 for an American Pale Ale. I don't think I can enter this one anywhere though being I didn't brew it, I only fermented it and dry hopped it.

I do need to enter more contests, I've been in the ones in my homebrew club and last year's Fresno Fair.

Nah. YOU'LL know you didn't make the wort. Brewer's code #1 - Don't be a dick.
What if the beer wins? Jamil has won his share of homebrew medals.
He doesn't need another one.

(At least with extract, you have to boil it yourself.)

em Jamil didn't boil his last wort either

You're probably right though, most competitions have a clause that it can't be made on commercial system. :jnj

I wouldn't enter it, now if it was a cream ale I'd enter it in the homebrew club competition, I have to brew a cream ale and I don't wanna. Cream Ales do nothing for me, anyone wanna brew it for me?

Just kidding, I'll do it but it's only gonna be 3 gallons

It's funny I brewed a strong scotch ale a few months ago for that BN brew off (that never happened :) )... I HATE strong scotch ales. So I used it to for competitions. I won 1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. I got a good score in the NHC (41), but didn't advance. I have it entered in one more competition.

Maybe you'll have the same luck :)
