Orange Blossoms?

Hello all,

In the late 90's there was a brewery in Riverside, CA whose flagship beer was called "Orange Blossom Blonde Ale". The brewery went under a few years ago, but I had heard the secret ingredient was a tea-like infusion of citrus flowers. I tossed a few ounces of fresh orange flowers in my last batch at flameout to steep while the wort chilled. Now my closet smells like barley, hops and sweet perfume! The Hangar 24 brewery in next-door Redlands has an Orange Wheat as their flagship ale, so I went with 4/5 2-row and 1/5 wheat for the grain bill.

Can you tell me which of us had the 'right beer'? I'm the bearded one.

Spider, I'm not really a fan of the Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, I have had it before but don't really care for it, but their Amarillo Pale Ale and Altbier are a little better. From what I have seen, the lighter colored one looks like the Orange Wheat.

Orange blossoms (as opposed to orange juice, extract, or peels), are closer to how jasmine flowers are used sometimes - they don't give a noticeable citrus aroma or flavor so much as a strong gardenia-like floral scent. I used 2.2 ounces in a 10 gallon batch and that may have been too much, I'll let you all know once it is finished bottle conditioning. It is definitely more hoppy than the Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, I was just copying the grain bill.

Also, I could tell which one you were, but 3 out of 4 of you guys had beards!
