Toyomidori hops

I've been given some toyomidori hops and I can't find anything useful about them. Anyone heard of or used these before?

Sorry man, I can't even pronounce it let alone be of any assistance. Was the person who gave you the hops Japanese?

I google'd it: http://www.ars.usda.gov/SP2UserFiles/pe ... 21676.html. Looks like it was bred as a high alpha hop. One of the parents is Northern Brewer. How does it smell?

That was about all I could find as well. They are foil vac packed at the moment and I don't really want to open them until I use them.

Make sure you have something else on hand for brewday you can use instead if they happen to smell like ass.

I've always got a couple of two three pounds of hops in the freezer so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'd do a single hop beer with them, just to see what they add at the different stages.... depending on how they smelled anyways. Always gotta do the sniff check before you dive in, ya know?
