Hibiscus and hops

Wed Nov 06, 2013 11:32 am

Has anyone else ever used hibiscus in their beers with massive dry hopping? The combo is incredible, the aroma it creates is amazing the way the hibiscus blends with the hops. I recently split a batch and dry hopped half with Simcoe and the other half with Galaxy, I think the Simcoe is a little better.

In addition to the aroma you get from using Hibiscus with lots of dry hopping; the red color is beautiful too. Who ever gets me as their secret Santa is in for a treat folks.

Please share your thoughts and/or experiences using hibiscus and have a super day! YAY! :jnj

What quantity of hibiscus are you using? Dogfish Head had a braggot that used hibiscus flowers, but I think I added way too much when I tried a homebrew version.

I used 8oz in a 7 gallon batch. Any more would have been too much. Hey are you the RoyalBrewing from Reedly? If so I met you once at Bencomo's in Fresno, if not then howdy stranger
