oat hulls

does anyone know where to purchase oat hulls?

I've never seen oat hulls sold separately. Oat malt has more husk material than barley if you want to go that route for adding oats to a beer.

Most folks use rice hulls in their mash to help with the sparge. These are available at almost any homebrew shop.

i used oat hulls years ago, but it seems they are almost nonexistant nowadays. i've used rice, but would really like to find some oats. imo they added alot to the head.

I've never used them, but doesn't seem that they would add anything that would improve the head, but their presence may cause other things to happen or not happen. Either way, rice hulls should do the same thing for you and are more readily available.
