Does Irish Moss Expire

Wed Jun 29, 2011 4:35 am

I got a probably 5 year old 5lb bucket of irish moss. It appears that it stayed in a sealed container, but not factory sealed. WOuld this still be safe to use? Or is there any way to know?

Thanks

I don't really see how it could expire unless for some reason it gets moldy. I typically rehydrate my irish moss as I feel it is more effective in this form.

As long as it stayed dry it should be fine to use. Irish moss isn't something you can give the sniff test to see whether it's still good.
