I forgot to buy irish moss and was planning on brewing today, but the brew store close to me is closed for New Years. Anyone know of alternatives I might be able to use or an alternative place I might find it?
Some of the old German brew masters would dump egg whites into boiling wort and I suppose you could try that but I'd just forget about it. I've brewed many an ale without Irish Moss. It drops brigther faster with it but the ones without were certainly pleasant enough to drink.
That's what I was hoping someone would confirm, thanks. I'm just drinking it... not entering a competition.
I read on the internet that a lot of latin dishes are thickened with irish moss, so I'm going to go to the local Fiesta grocery and see if they have any. If not, no loss.

Never even heard of that. Thanks! I'll look into it.
