Wheat Yeast on different styles

Sun Nov 29, 2009 10:46 am

Anyone ever experiment with 3068 or WLP300 on another style? Like maybe a Bitter or a mild?

Just curious. I kind of want to play with that a little.

I made a cider with wlp300, it's good. The yeast let the cider finish a little higher than normal for some fruity flavors.

I was thinking almost the same thought. Banana Bread is what I want to try to do. Not with a borwn though. Was thinking more of an English Pale base with the Hefe yeast.

Yum. I'm going to to try this wheat yeast on a different style.

If you want to try something that's historically brewed with a weizen-type yeast with no wheat in the grist, go for a German-style dampfbier.

Interesting. Never heard of it. Looks like a research project.

Looks fantastic!!! I think I would do a 70/30 Munich/Pils grain bill to get the color and flavor from the munich.
