Double Activator pouch pitching vs. Starters

Wed Sep 09, 2009 8:17 pm

Does anyone simply pitch two pouchs or vials of yeast in lieu of a starter?

Any issues you can see other than added cost? Underpitch? Overpitch?

that will work fine but there will still be more lag time then a starter would have.

I do it from time to time, or when I'm just being plain lazy. You may experence a longer lag time like one_dead_soul said. But I haven't really had any problems doing this. Use the Mr. Malty's Pitching Rate Calculator and it will tell you how many vials you need.
