Checked two of the bags and they seem to smell fine. I assume the "cheesy" odor would be really obvious, so I think I am good to go. Planning on just bumping the addition by maybe 10% or so. I am am brewing an Oktoberfest this Saturday (first lager).

Sorry they left it there for so long, and I agree with all the statements made here as for heat and air. I'm upgrading to some thicker bags as well, though with the ones shipped sometimes let a very small amount of air into the package so new air is not being introduced so the damage would be minimal. I have not yet had any complaints as to quality, and as chatted about the heat as long as it doesn't have an obvious cheesy smell you're good to go, just lower alpha. Instead of 10% extra though may as well do 50 :P

Yep - it stays inside. I learned from shipping wine that the small amount of time in the delivery truck can really cook your wine/beer/yeast/hops. If Niko drops the stuff off at the post office and I pick it up there the postal service handles it pretty well along the way - first class mail stays dry and in the shade for the most part. Several post office workers are neighbors and friends of my wife, so they always treat us nicely - the advantages of a small town. It gets hotter by your place this time of year (my wife is from St. Louis) as it rarely goes above 90 here, and 80 up on the mountain where I live.

I am familiar with your weather....been there many times for work. I think my hops survived...they only caught one day of cooking in the mailbox. Brewing first lager Sunday...have a LOT of yeast spinning now on stir plates.
