Re: Maris Otter's inexpensive twin brother...where are you?

MK,

I am familiar with More Beer...I actually picked my 26 gallon system up at the Riverside showroom to save freight charges. it's about 60 miles away from my house though--so I don't go out there very often. I currently do not have a mill because I don't have the room to store grains in bulk quantities.

I'll do some more experimenting with different blends of base malts to see what I come up with. Your 50/50 split seems like a reasonable place to start. Do you know when the next 15% off sale is going to be?

Thanks.

Holt, You had better check w/Riverside about dates and if they do the same sale. At Concord the next sale takes place in June or July? More Beer sends me an E-mail prior to the sale. The deal is 15% off anything in the showroom. If you order grain you have to do it about a week ahead of time with a will call order. The best thing to do is talk to the showroom manager, I think in Riverside his name is Rob. As I'm sure you know the customer service at More Beer is Great!
About that Brewery of your's, did you get the Flat Sculpture or the Tippy dump? I use the same 26gal. kettles in my "Half-a-Barrel-Brewery" I do 15gal batches, with lots of room left over. For the price you can't find a kettle of this size.
Hey, Good talking to ya.........MK

Rob at More Beer is cool--he's the one that helped me with my order for the 26 gal Tippy Dump, and I actually got the 15% discount on the system when I ordered it last July. I am totally happy with the system now that I modified it to recirculate while bypassing the heat exchanger if I choose to. I have not tried a 20 gallon batch either--I prefer to have the extra room. That was my major reason for not wanting a system that used converted kegs as kettles.

I'm going to brew a recipe that calls for 13pounds of MO, and it specifically says to use MO, and no other base grains.

I'm going to try using CMC 2row, but add 1pound munich and 1pound victory and hope that gets me close.
