High Jacking yeast

Oky guys I really like widmer bros hef. Well tonight I said well lets see if I can rip off the yeast. So I made a starter wort cooled it and put the air lock in the universal stopper. Put the beer in the glass being careful not to disturb it and left a film and ring of yeast on the bottom of the bottle. Put the starter wort in the bottle and put the lock on and shook it real good. Well see what happens.

Sometimes with Hefes, they filter out the fermenting strain then bottle with a lager yeast or more flavour neutral strain of ale yeast, however according to this site http://www.nada.kth.se/~alun/Beer/Bottle-Yeasts/ you may be OK. Having said that, a quick google search on "widner hefeweizen bottling strain" reveals some controversy :-)

Good luck, will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I would write an email to the brewery and just ask if they bottle with the fermentation yeast or not. Worst they can do is not answer.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
