Additions for Whiskey Imperial Stout

Any ideas out there for the whiskey component for a WIS? Simply adding some whiskey or whiskey soaked chips is my best guess, I obviously do not have a barrel. Thanks for any input.

Well, the recipe for the Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter I brewed the other day calls for the addition of about 10 ml bourbon per pint of beer (400 ml per 5 gallon batch). This is added at kegging or to the bottling bucket. I will dose a sample at a little smaller rate and adjust from there before spiking the entire batch.

I made that same recipe. It has a lot of whisky flavor. Next time I would try the whisky soaked oak bean. (use oak beans or cubes they are 1000X easier than chips)

Thanks for your input fellas, and thanks to Jamil for answering my pm on the matter. I realize it would be ideal to get the character from a real whiskey barrel, I think that I may go with the soaked cubes route. I had the Whiskey Imperial Stout at Moylans last weekend and it was damn tasty so I was inspired to make my own WIS.
