Re: El Dorado Hops

I have a half pound of which I'm planning a Winter IPA. Base of Maris Otter with a touch of Vienna, English C60 and English C120 blend, and a few sparse ozs of Special Roast. I'm blending the El Dorado with Chinook at a 75/25 blend to get just a touch of pine in there with the candy-like flavors of El Dorado. Gunning for a borderline Imperial English IPA with a totally unique hop character. Can't wait to brew this one...

I have never used El Dorado but have used Summit and Columbus individually as replacement for Simcoe and been happy with the results. I guess it depends on how you use them and what exactly you're going for. I used these as 1/2 for bittering and 1/2 for dry hopping (blended, but not with each other) in pale ales and IPA's.
