Wet-Hop Beer

Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:49 am

I just went to the Russian River Brewing Company and had their wet hopped Harvest Wheat beer. Absolutly amazing! It was so intensely hoppy but so smooth and rediculously well balanced, like nothing I've had before (I did buy a growler to take home - after my girlfriend and I polished it off we were pretty well suffering from hop burn; but a pint or so at the bar was magic).

Has anyone tried to brew a wet hopped beer? How would I adjust a recipe for a wet hopped beer? Would I use more or less hops than dry? Any thoughts on an addition schedule? This will all have to be next year when I get some plants growing, I'd definatly go to the expense and trouble of growing a hop plant even if the yeild was only one batch.

I am not sure if it was this forum or the Sunday show, but use 6 times the amount of hops for your wet hop beers. Since there is still a lot of moisture in the hops, you need to account for this extra weight.
Good luck, I was too lazy and let mine turn to shit on the vine (again).
